The Rights of Nature

The rights of nature are inherit

But dismissed

Granted to all life

But denied by one species

‘Dominion’ casts a dark shadow over all

To those who know little of its intent

Tragedy befalls species

That can’t adapt

Because survival

Depends on humanity’s grace

And compassion

Of which little exists in the modern era

Nature withstood billions of years

Of cataclysmic changes

Doomed in the modern era

Extinction looms

Like an unlocked door

Do we rush to open it

Or see the errors of our ways

Keeping extinction

Locked away

To preserve the rights of nature

For all species to rejoice

In preserving life on Earth

We must never unlock extinction’s door

For the rights of nature

Must prevail

For ALL
